I was just looking for a straightforward resume update. With over 10 years of experience, my resume is pretty packed. I’ve been in finance, but I’m trying to switch to tech, so I just needed to tweak some of my past roles. I thought it would be a breeze since even in finance, it’s all about project management (which was easy when I went with someone else). I had plenty of content to work with, so I figured it would just be a matter of aligning the wording with the job description I provided. Instead of going with a reputable company, I decided to check out some ratings and give Skillroads a shot. Big mistake. Now I’m seriously questioning the validity of those ratings. They don’t deliver on their promises or their refund policy. I bought a service labeled “Resume Editing” that was supposed to be ready in three days. As I mentioned, I had solid content to start with. I just needed some adjustments to the bullet points and layout. After making my purchase, I had to contact customer service to get the writer to reach out to me after being assigned. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? During the whole process, the writer only contacted me once, and that was to ask for more time. It’s pretty clear why this doesn’t work, folks. How can you write about me if you don’t even communicate? I had a bad feeling about it, but I gave the writer the benefit of the doubt. When my “new resume” finally arrived, it looked like something a middle schooler put together. The formatting was a mess, there were typos, and the few edits made turned my original bullet points into nonsense. I ran it through another grading system, and it scored lower than my original resume. I’m not one to make a fuss, so I simply requested a refund. They tried but failed. It’s only fair to get a refund. They offered me a rewrite with a “Senior Writer,” which I turned down because it was clear my first version was done by someone unqualified. They then offered me a 50% refund and claimed what I had was a “good draft” to build on. I didn’t pay for a draft; I paid for a complete product. My actual resume is the good draft. What they provided is garbage. I needed that resume by the delivery date to send to a recruiter at a top tech firm. I thought this would be simple. Instead, I found a recruiter on LinkedIn who helped me make the necessary edits so I could get it done by the end of the day. This company is a joke and will only lie and deliver subpar products. Not only will I never use them again, but they’ve also reinforced my reluctance to try new companies. They owe me a full refund for breaching the contract and failing to deliver the product. Don’t let them take your money and waste your time, too.
